HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - If you’re looking for a job, there’s an event today you need to know about.
Several auto makers are holding a virtual hiring event. You have the chance to connect with local employers and managers at the convenience of your own computer! This event takes place April 13 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The Huntsville/Madison County Chamber is hosting the North Alabama Virtual automotive manufacturing hiring event. Leaders with the Chamber said they’re looking to fill around hundreds of positions in automotive manufacturing, although they can’t put a specific number on the amount.
It’s important to note you do not need prior training to get hired. Starting pay for some of the jobs is $17 an hour entry level.
According to John Roberts who is the business Retention and Expansion Director for the Huntsville Madison County Chamber, he said no experience is necessary, but you must be 18 years or older and have a passion for automotive manufacturing.
Roberts said COVID-19 spiked unemployment in general, but now the automotive field is booming.
He said this is more than just getting a job. Candidates can receive benefits, on the job training and a career.
Some of the companies are looking for workers are Mazda Toyota, Toyota Motor Manufacturing, YKTA and Bocar.
