FORT PAYNE, Ala. (WAFF) - A suspect involved in a burglary and vehicle theft in DeKalb County led enforcement on a chase.
The incident happened Friday, April 9 in the Pine Ridge area.
A business owner told deputies their stolen vehicle was on County Road 104, based on information from a tracking device on the vehicle. Deputies tried to pull the driver over, but the driver didn’t stop. The driver led deputies on a chase through Crossville, Geraldine and Grove Oak.
The driver stopped near High Falls State Park, and deputies say he then ran off. Deputies say citizens helped to get the suspect into police custody.
Dylan Robert Cooper was charged with 1st and 2nd degree theft of property, and 3rd degree burglary.
“Without the help of the good citizens on County Road 360, this suspect may have gotten away with this crime. I want to thank you all for your help! I also want to thank the Geraldine PD and Crossville PD for all of their help! Working together as a family, as well as a team, makes our job a little easier,” said DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden.
